Bronze Leaf Award

  On February 19, 2010, at the 16th annual North Central Texas Urban Forestry Conference, the City of Arlington Forestry and Beautification was awarded the Bronze Leaf Award for Outstanding Municipal Project of the Year for 2009. The award was in recognition of the Urban Forest Effects Model (UFORE) that was completed. UFORE refers to a computer model that calculates the structure, environmental effects and values of urban forests. Once the study is completed, it will show that environmental benefits associated with the urban forest, such as carbon removal and air quality improvement, have a value to society. Benefits include…

Garden Maps

2010 All-Star Trees

Arlington Parks and Recreation teamed up with NBA Cares to plant 2,010 trees over the course of 100 days leading up to the 59th NBA All-Star Game on February 14, 2010. Trees were planted throughout the City in parks, rights-of-way, medians and elementary schools. They were also offered to city residents through Arlington Forestry's program, Let's Enhance Arlington's Forest. Tree North Texas

  Tree North Texas is the regional urban forestry initiative for North Texas. This initiative will be the largest tree planting initiative in the nation, with a plan to plant 3 million trees in North Texas during the next 10 years.    Municipalities, individuals, organizations, agencies and corporations will all play a role in planting trees. Because the goal of this initiative is to significantly raise the percentage of tree canopy, plantings must take place on public and private lands.
