About

Hugh Smith offers a wide variety of programs and activities for all ages.  Classes are taught throughout the day and evenings.  Programs include:  A variety of aerobic and weight room memberships for ages 14 and up.

  • Mature adult programs in fitness, health and wellness
  • Day camp program offering themed activities including sports, crafts and special activities for children ages 5-12 (available during the summer, winter and Spring Break holidays).
  • Elementary classes in martial arts, basketball, soccer, dance, football, gymnastics and music.
  • Adult classes in aerobics, weight training, arts and culture.
  • After school program offering a variety of fun activities for children every day after school. 

 

Elementary Classes

  • AiKiDo—Ages 8 and up.  AiKiDo is a dynamic, spiritual, non-violent and power martial art based on circular movement and blending with the attacker’s movement.  This martial art keeps you centered and in shape.  Visit arlingtonaikido.com for more information.

  • Basketball—Classes for ages 5-12.  Participants concentrate on the basics of the game.  Learning dribbling, passing, shooting, offense/defense drills and rebounding. 

  • Gymnastics—Classes for ages 6-12.  This class develops balance, coordination, flexibility, muscular endurance and strength.  This is a beginning class where participants will learn basic gymnastic skills.

  • Guitar—Classes for ages 8 and up.  Learn basic guitar chords, strumming techniques, tuning and care of the guitar.  Emphasis is on the guitar as accompaniment and will include simple guitar solos.  Bring guitar to class.  Levels 1 and 2 are offered. 

  • JoAnn’s Lil Dancers-We have partnered with Jo-Ann’s Lil Dancers to offer a great program for your preschooler to learn the art of ballet and tap.  Contact Jo-Ann to register 817-498-8618. 

  • Keyboarding—Classes for ages 6-15.  Learn beginning skills on an electric keyboard.  Practice notes and their time values, fingering, simple songs etc.  Fee includes piano book.  Levels A-C available. 

  • Tae Kwon Do—Classes for ages 5-10.  Students will learn beginning techniques like kicking, punching, basic falls and discipline, respect and confidence. 

  • Tae Kwon Do Club—Classes for ages 6 and up.  Students start with the basics and learn more advanced techniques.  This club gives students the opportunity to advance in belt colors and test out as Black Belt. 

 

Teen Classes

Senior Happenings 

  • Afternoon Tea-2nd Wednesday at 2 pm 

  • Computer Classes-Just the Basics every Tuesday 9:30-10:30am. $5   Social Networking 101 Wednesday 7pm-8pm $18 for 4 week session. Internet Quickstart Thursday 2pm-3pm $18 for a 4-week session.  Private computer class just $15 an hour. 
  • Card Games-Every day starting at 8:30 am.

  • Craft Classes-2nd Wednesday at 10 am.

  • Education Health Session- Wednesday, April 17 at 10 am.  Free  A representative from Sonas Medical will speak on balance and reducing falls.  Breakfast snacks served. 

  • Ice Cream Social-4th Wednesday at 12:30 pm 

  • Joyful Singing-Every Tuesday at 10:30 am. 

  • Morning Movie Madness-1st Friday at 9:30 am. 

  • Parkinson’s Support-Class meets Mondays and Thursdays at 10 am. 

  • Stitch-n-Beads- Every Thursday at 10 am.

  • Super Bingo-3rd Friday every month at 10 am. 

  • Table Games-Every day starting at 8:30 am.
