BioBlitz Nature Challenge at O.S. Gray | Apr. 15

Monday, 10 April 2017 00:00

Join the Texas Parks & Wildlife and the Friends of O.S. Gray Natural Area in a fun BioBlitz as we compete in the City Nature Challenge to see which City can document the most species. This is a great activity for all ages and a fun way to get out an explore!

What is a BioBlitz? A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. At a BioBlitz, scientists, families, students, teachers, and other community members use the iNaturalist app to work together to get an overall count of the plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms that live in a place.

Its easy and simple to participate. Download the iNaturalist app to your smartphone, tablet or computer. Bring your camera, smartphone or tablet to O.S. Gray Natural Area, 2021 W Abram Street, on Saturday, April 15 at 9 AM. iNaturalist trainers from Texas Parks and Wildlife will train you on how to make observations. As you explore the Park and make observations you will upload them to the iNaturalist site. This event is from 9 AM - Noon.

Information on the City Nature Challenge can be found here | Information about the iNaturalist app can be found here.
