UTA Students Helped Inspect Park Assets

Thursday, 29 November 2018 00:00

Arlington Parks and Recreation recently partnered with UTA College of Engineering to complete inspections of specified assets at many our parks.

The asset types included Pavilions, Bridges, Docks, and Walls. In preparing for the inspections, the students identified inspection categories (Corrosion, Erosion, Safety Hazard, Stress Concentrations, and Structural Integrity) to score each inspection.

Then, the students utilized iPads and Arlington Park's asset management software tool to perform field inspections of 180 assets located across 60 parks.

The students gathered valuable information that Arlington Parks will utilize within an overall condition assessment project.

We offer a big THANK YOU to the 28 UTA engineering students for volunteering their time and skills to this effort, and to Professor Adrian Rodriguez, Ph.D., UTA Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, for coordinating with Arlington Parks and Recreation on this project.
