Anglers Compete at Lake Arlington Bass Tournament

On April 12, 2014, anglers participated in the Second Annual Lake Arlington Cabela's Bass Tournament . Warm temperatures and a strong south wind greeted contestants for a friendly day of competition.

The team of Max Rhodes and Scott DeGrant took first place with 17.07 pounds, which included big bass honors with a 7.01 pound fish. Their fish were caught using Texas rigged Berkley Power Hawgs along main lake docks.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS

  1. Max Rhodes/Scott DeGrant, 17.07 lbs. $200 Cabela's gift card. Rod and reel for big bass.
  2. Bill Bateman/Ken Tywater, 14.10 lbs. $100 Cabela's gift card.
  3. Brad Davis/Louie Fierro, 4.01 lbs. $50 Cabela's gift card.
  4. Tony Platter/Joel Benke, 1.11 lbs. Tackle box.

Special thanks to Cabela's of Fort Worth for providing the gift cards, and Berkley for providing many samples of their Powerbait products. An Abu Garcia fishing rod was also awarded as a blind draw prize.

All bass were released alive. In addition, 12 of these fish were tagged for the department's "Catch a Fish, Win a Prize" contest. More information can be found at www.naturallyfun.org/fish
